Qinglan Career | Successful LGD Coaching Session Held at School of Foreign Languages and Literature, Beijing Normal University
On the evening of May 21, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature at Beijing Normal University, a partner department of the “FESCO Qinglan Career Development Service Center,” hosted a special lecture on “Leaderless Group Discussion (LGD) Guidance and Onsite Simulation” at the university’s post-main building. The event invited Jiang Pengfei, a mentor from the FESCO Qinglan Center and a senior talent development expert, as the keynote speaker. Jiang provided students with a systematic analysis of the core logic and practical techniques of LGD, aiming to enhance their competitiveness in the job market.
The lecture, themed “Ace Your Interview,” featured real-life corporate recruitment scenarios. Jiang Pengfei thoroughly explained the definition, characteristics, and assessment points of LGD. By contrasting individual interviews with group discussions, she highlighted that LGD focuses on key qualities such as teamwork, analytical thinking, and communication skills. Jiang also outlined common question types, role allocation, and stress management strategies within the discussion process.
Focusing on frequently encountered topics such as ranking questions, resource competition, and dilemma problems, Jiang guided students through scenario analyses using typical cases. She emphasized that the “key person” in a discussion is not a fixed role, encouraging students to adapt their roles flexibly and to demonstrate their strengths through actions like contributing opinions, summarizing progress, and mediating differences. This, she noted, leads to both “ability matching and team success.”
At the end of the event, students actively discussed the mock interview materials, sharing their thoughts and ideas. Jiang Pengfei provided feedback with real-life breakdowns and analytical tools, helping students understand how to reach consensus and showcase their strengths within a limited time frame. By combining theoretical instruction with lightweight practice, participants gained a clearer understanding of LGD logic and practical techniques, accumulating valuable experience for their future job searches.
